Frequently asked questions

Can I use SoloInc if my corporation has no revenue?

SoloInc Hold is designed for eligible corporations that have ceased active business operations but still have annual compliance obligations. No revenue alone does not necessarily qualify a corporation.

Can I purchase corporate tax preparation without a subscription?

Yes. TEPLOV CPA offers standalone T2 and CO-17 preparation for businesses that maintain their own accounting records.

Can I move from Hold to Complete?

Eligible corporations can transition to SoloInc Complete when business operations resume, subject to the applicable service terms.

A Client Workspace with both packages

SoloInc Complete and SoloInc Hold include a secure Client Workspace for document exchange, requests and a shared To-Do list. SoloInc manages the list; you can see it but cannot edit or close tasks. See how it works.

What SoloInc Hold includes

The package covers the essential annual work needed to maintain an eligible inactive corporation’s compliance. The shared To-Do list reflects these limited filing and maintenance obligations.

  • Basic year-end bookkeeping for a minimal number of inactivity-related transactions
  • Annual T2 corporate income tax return and CO-17 for Quebec corporations
  • Nil GST/HST and QST returns for registered accounts within the agreed filing frequency
  • Ordinary annual corporate or registry return within the agreed jurisdictional scope
  • Routine CRA and Revenu Québec notices directly related to returns prepared by SoloInc
  • An annual compliance calendar and filing reminders

What “inactive” means

The corporation must meet all of these assumptions throughout the service period.

No operating activity

No sales, operating revenue, new contracts or active delivery during the service period.

No payroll

No employees, owner payroll or contractors; payroll accounts must be closed or handled separately.

Minimal transactions

Only incidental items such as bank charges, tax payments or refunds, and professional fees.

A current starting point

Books, tax filings and registry filings are current when SoloInc Hold begins.

A simple structure

No inventory, corporate group, trust, significant investments or non-routine cross-border matters.

Timely cooperation

Complete records, notices and requested approvals are provided through the agreed process on time.

What SoloInc Hold does not include

These situations require SoloInc Complete or a separately scoped engagement.

  • Operating transactions, sales, payroll, contractors or owner compensation
  • Historical cleanup, overdue or amended filings, and unresolved balances
  • Audits, reviews, objections, collections or substantial correspondence
  • Tax planning, reorganizations, ownership changes or complex investment activity
  • Account closures, final returns, dissolution or later reactivation work
  • Government filing fees, legal services, software and other third-party charges

When activity resumes: tell us before issuing an invoice, signing a new engagement, paying compensation or restarting transactions. We will confirm the move to SoloInc Complete or another appropriate scope.

Indicative Quebec scope for Complete

The $250 price assumes a straightforward, one-owner corporation with current books and filings.

  • Annual T2 and CO-17 corporate income tax returns
  • Combined GST/QST returns with an annual or quarterly filing frequency
  • Standard payroll for the owner, including source deductions, T4, RL-1 and the RL-1 Summary
  • Ordinary Quebec enterprise-register compliance
  • Routine Revenu Québec notices directly related to returns prepared by SoloInc

Separately priced work

The following is outside the indicative recurring scope.

  • Monthly GST/QST filing
  • Personal T1 or TP-1 returns
  • Registrations, historical cleanup, overdue filings or amended returns
  • Payroll for employees other than the owner
  • Audits, objections, collection matters or extensive correspondence
  • Complex permanent-establishment, place-of-supply or other non-routine Quebec matters
  • Accounting software, payroll software and other third-party charges

What the $200 model assumes

The fixed monthly price works because SoloInc serves a deliberately narrow operating profile. Eligibility and the starting point are confirmed before the subscription begins.

One active owner

One shareholder who actively operates the corporation.

A service business

No inventory, corporate group, trust or significant investment activity.

Ordinary activity

A routine volume of transactions across the business accounts agreed during onboarding.

A current starting point

Bookkeeping and required filings are current when the recurring service begins.

Digital records

Complete records and requested answers are provided through the agreed process on time.

Standard owner administration

Routine salary, dividends and shareholder-account activity where applicable.

No hidden automatic upgrades: if the corporation no longer fits these assumptions, we explain the issue and agree the next step before separate work begins. Accounting software, legal work and other third-party charges are included only when the written engagement expressly says so.

What the recurring plan includes

SoloInc Complete is designed for a straightforward, one-owner Canadian corporation with routine compliance needs.

  • Your books: Routine bookkeeping and reconciliation.
  • Your taxes: Standard corporate tax and indirect-tax compliance.
  • Paying yourself: Routine owner compensation administration.
  • Your corporation: Ordinary annual corporate compliance.
  • CRA: Routine account correspondence and reminders.
  • Your records: An organized continuity record.

What remains your responsibility

SoloInc manages the routine work. You remain responsible for providing complete records, answering questions when context is needed, approving matters that require your approval, and making tax and remittance payments when due.

Personal T1 and TP-1 returns, historical corrections, complex tax advice, legal work, and accounting software or other third-party charges are not included unless the written engagement expressly says so.

Starting with SoloInc

1. Eligibility review

We confirm whether the corporation fits the SoloInc model and identify the information needed to begin.

2. Clean starting point

For a corporation that is current, we set up the Client Workspace and organize initial requests and upcoming obligations. Historical cleanup is identified separately.

3. Ongoing service

Monthly pre-authorized debit begins once the service scope is agreed and the recurring work is ready to start.

When work is outside the subscription

Some events require a different kind of professional work. This includes historical cleanup, audits, reorganizations, legal advice, complex PSB analysis, significant investments, complex cross-border matters, or changes to ownership.

We identify the issue, explain the next step, and agree the scope and price before separate work begins.

Starting and closing are separate

Incorporation and initial setup are not included in the recurring SoloInc subscription. Final accounting, final returns, account closures and dissolution support are also separate. These are one-time specialist engagements handled through Teplov CPA, with scope and pricing agreed before work begins.

Changing or ending the service

SoloInc Complete may be ended with 30 days’ notice. SoloInc Hold has a 12-month minimum because its work is primarily annual. In either case, we provide the records needed for continuity according to the engagement terms. See how leaving SoloInc works.
